Anusha Ravishankar Sriram

Founder & Artistic Director, Sanskriti – Center for Indian Performing Arts

Anusha Ravishankar Sriram is a distinguished Bharatanatyam artiste, teacher, and choreographer with nearly four decades of immersive experience in the classical arts. She is a senior disciple of Kalaimamani Guru Smt. Revathi Ramachandran of Kala Sadhanalaya, Chennai. Anusha is a practitioner of the rich and nuanced Melattur Bani of Bharatanatyam, a lineage established by the legendary Guru Sri Mangudi Durai Raja Iyer.

She began her artistic journey at a very young age and deepened her expertise through rigorous training and formal study of all aspects of this exquisite artform. She has a Diploma in Bharatanatyam from the Government of India and has performed extensively across India alongside her Guru, gracing prestigious sabhas and cultural festivals including: The Music Academy, Karthik Fine Arts, Narada Gana Sabha, Chidambaram Natyanjali Festival, Mysore Dussera Festival, International Women's Association, and at several historic temple towns like Srivilliputtur, Dharmasthala, and many others across India. She has also been part of several classical dance productions and serials broadcast on Indian television channels.

Artistic Journey in the United States

Since moving to the United States in 2002, Anusha has continued to champion her passionate interest in Bharatanatyam through consistent performances throughout the USA at notable venues such as Walt Disney World, Chinmaya Mission, AKDA Dance Festival, India Showcase, Northwest Folklife Festival, several temple Kumbhabhishekams, Melharmony Festival Seattle, and several local festivals across multiple states in the country.

Over the years, she has conducted numerous workshops, lecture demonstrations, and served as visiting faculty at institutions including KY Dance Alliance, Berea College, and Hindu University of America. She has had the opportunity to train in Layam, Nattuvangam under Shri Sheejith Krishna and in Carnatic music under Smt Jyotishmathi Sheejith, and continues to constantly explore learning opportunities.

In 2004, driven by an urge to continue her passion and spread the awareness of Bharatanatyam to future generations, Anusha established her own dance school in Orlando, Florida, with subsequent chapters in Kentucky and Washington State. As the Founder & Artistic Director of Sanskriti, Anusha is known for her meticulous training style rooted in foundation, technique, precision, and expressive depth. She has nurtured numerous students through their Bharatanatyam journey with artistic integrity and discipline — her true focus being the cultural value system that classical arts instill in each student.
